** How many of you have a glass jar or something similar that you put change into for a vacation, a rainy day or that special something ..??? Please let me share with you a very special
GLASS JAR STORY
There was a little girl, age 7, who decided that when she was older she wanted to go on a mission trip. She started to save pennies, nickels, dimes and any extra money she could. When given birthday gifts or money from doing chores it went into ‘the jar’. This was an admirable long term project. Oh yes, she also had ONE rule about the jar..she was never to remove money from it only deposit!!
I remind you..this girl was 7!!!
Now, fast forward with me 8 years..the girl is now 15 and a mission trip is within the sphere of ‘reality’. This past November, this young woman found out about a mission trip to Bogotá Columbia to work with Children’s Vision International, a ministry to orphans. She signed up..the glass jar would purchase you flight ticket.
Nice story…but there is a twist… As this young woman has been praying and preparing for such a life changing experience, something happened. One morning she felt the prompting that her GLASS JAR should be used for something else. As any of us would do, she asked herself “ is this for real”..is this really the leading from my heavenly Father, and overwhelmingly she KNEW the answer was yes.
Without hesitation she brought the GLASS JAR to one of our Fireproof Ball Committee members and PRESENTED the GLASS JAR with $519.06 in it as a gift. You see, she has close friends who’s parents have split up, are divorced or live in the same house but just plain don’t talk to each other. This BOTHERS her!!! Some of her peers comment that they don’t even like being in the same room with their parents because they just can’t stand the arguing and bickering.
With the love of Jesus in this 15 year olds eyes she presented her ‘offering’, her ‘investment’ and made this statement:
"I don't want the Devil to destroy any more marriages and neither does God, the Ball can be something to help those families stay together."
Her mission field ‘location’ changed and now her saving for 8 years become very personnel, she as a teenager is investing in marriages, in the future of young people like herself.
